Simulating the Effects of Agricultural Adaptation Practices onto the Soil Water Content in Future Climate Using SWAT Model on Upland Bystra River Catchment
The article presents predicted changes in soil water content in the Bystra river catchment (eastern Poland) for various scenarios of climate change and adaptation practices obtained on the basis of a SWAT model simulation for three regional climate models driven by the global climate model EC- EARTH for the years 2041–2050 and the RCP 4.5 and 8.5 RCP scenarios.
Mechanisms involved in drought stress tolerance triggered by rhizobia strains in wheat
Rhizobium spp. is a well-known microbial plant biostimulant in non-legume crops, but little is known about the mechanisms by which rhizobia enhance crop productivity under drought stress. As part of the EU project B-Ferst, this work analyses the mechanisms involved in drought stress alleviation exerted by Rhizobium leguminosarum strains in wheat plants under water shortage conditions.
Advances in commercial scale production of bio-based NPK fertilisers from waste streams
Turning waste into resources is key to a circular economy. The recovery of bio-waste generates numerous possibilities to produce chemicals, fuels and valuable products. However, there are still technological and market challenges before large-scale commercialisation of the developed products can be achieved. The paper presents the possibilities and the bottlenecks of such challenges through the research done within B-Ferst.
